“Pathetic White privilege” – NFL fans flame Brett Favre after HoF QB moved to dismiss complaint in Mississippi Welfare Scandal

Brett Favre spent his NFL career resisting opposing defenses, but now the Hall of Fame quarterback has been put on the defensive amid a welfare scandal alleging him to have misused welfare funds.

In response to claims of taking welfare money to help build a volleyball facility at a college, the quarterback has made a motion to attempt to dismiss the complaint, according to ESPN.

In response, fans slammed the former quarterback. From alleging "white privilege" to attacking his playing career, fans left no stone unturned.

Roughly $77 million were diverted from a welfare fund in Mississippi in what ESPN called a move that "diverted from the poorest people in America's poorest state toward rich and powerful Mississippians."

The case has led to five arrests, but not the former quarterback, who merely faced a civil lawsuit in May.

Favre's legal team claims that the quarterback had no ill-intent and moved to return the funds once he learned that a mistake had been made. The motion also asked for praise for the former quarterback and not a lawsuit.

ESPN, though, claimed that texts have been released to the public showing the quarterback attempting to figure out if he could get away with it unscathed.

While Brett Favre's career began with the Atlanta Falcons, the quarterback was soon traded to the Green Bay Packers in 1992, where he made a name for himself. Before 2000, the quarterback had won a Super Bowl and reached another. Between his arrival and the turn of the century, the quarterback had only been part of one non-winning team.

After 2000 rolled around, the wins continued to pile up, although Favre never returned to the Super Bowl. In his entire 16-year career with the Packers, he threw for 61,655 yards, 442 touchdowns and 286 interceptions. In his final three years with the team, he served as a mentor for Aaron Rodgers during his first few seasons before the team eventually couldn't hold him back anymore.

In 2008, the quarterback joined the New York Jets and began another short but legendary phase of his career. From 2008-10, Favre played for two teams, reached an NFC Championship and had a short retirement a la Tom Brady.

Of course, in the wake of Favre's recent controversy, his popularity has seen a decline, as fans have become detractors. As things stand, the former quarterback has a lot of work to do to fix his image in the public eye.
