"Purdy is going to win Super Bowl MVP", "The 49ers are SERIOUS Super Bowl Contenders" - NFL world believes rookie QB will lead San Francisco to glory

San Francisco 49ers v Houston Texans
San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy

Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers are heading to the playoffs! The 49ers wrapped up the division title race with a 21-13 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football. Head coach Kyle Shanahan's men improved to 10-4 and will host at least one playoff game at Levi's Stadium in January.

Purdy started the game against the Seahawks with 11 straight completions and eventually finished with 217 passing yards and two touchdowns. The quarterback is now 3-0 in his NFL career and 2-0 in games he has started. The 49ers have now won seven games in a row, the longest active streak in the NFL.

NFL fans, analysts, and former players raved about the 49ers' incredible form on social media. Some even suggested that San Francisco would win the Super Bowl with Brock Purdy under center:

Brock Purdy to become the first rookie QB to start a Super Bowl?

There are still plenty of games left this season, but if Brock Purdy and the 49ers could run the gauntlet and win the Super Bowl. Only six quarterbacks have started a conference championship game in their rookie season. None of which have made it to the big game.

Mark Sanchez was the last rookie quarterback to lead his team to a Conference Championship game. Sanchez and the New York Jets lost 30-17 to Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts in the 2009 playoffs. A year earlier, rookie Joe Flacco led the Baltimore Ravens to the AFC Championship game but was stopped in his tracks by Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Interestingly, before Flacco, Roethlisberger was the last quarterback to reach a Conference Championship game in his rookie season. Steelers quarterback Tommy Maddox suffered an injury in the team's Week 2 loss against the Baltimore Ravens, handing Roethlisberger the chance to become the starter.

The future Hall of Famer never looked back. He led the Steelers to a 15-1 record and led them to the AFC Championship Game. Unfortunately, for PIttsburgh, Tom Brady and the New England Patriots ended their dream run.

Shaun King (Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 1999), Dieter Brock (Los Angeles Rams, 1985), and Pat Haden (Rams, 1975) are the three other quarterbacks who started a Conference Championship game in their rookie season. History awaits Purdy, but can he achieve a feat that only six quarterbacks have even come close to?

Only time will tell.
