New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones is coming off a sophomore slump. While some have pointed to his injuries for the same, others have put the blame on his decision-making or have pointed to Bill Belichick's decisions.

Taking to Twitter, former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III vented his feelings on rumors that the team is taking steps to sever ties with Jones. Here's how he put it:

"The Patriots have reportedly shopped Mac Jones to other teams this off-season. Trying to trade him after giving him a defensive coordinator as his Offensive Coordinator and a special teams coach as his QB Coach last year is MIND BLOWING."

He added via a separate tweet:

"And I’m a Bailey Zappe guy. Love his game. But Mac’s regression was a by-product of unconventional decisions with the offense. [They] thought it could be a tendency breaker and give them an edge, but the only people they confused were their own players."

In his first year, Mac Jones enjoyed a plethora of comparisons to New England Patriots legend Tom Brady. He also enjoyed above-average success in his first season. However, his second season served as a regression to the mean.

In 2021, he went 10-7, throwing for 22 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. In 2022, he went 6-8 and threw for 14 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

Even if he survives the offseason to remain with the Patriots, Jones will likely have a massive task on his hands. Most agree that he will need to put on a scorched-earth campaign to erase the 2022 season from the minds of fans, pundits, and most importantly, his head coach.

However, the division could prove to be its most difficult yet, with Aaron Rodgers potentially entering the mix. Josh Allen's Buffalo Bills and Tua Tagovailoa's Miami Dolphins have already proven their strength. Heading into the NFL Draft, many feel Bill Belichick's team might be the worst in the AFC East.

Will the New England Patriots have the last laugh with Mac Jones uttering the last chuckle?
