Richard Sherman has his say on rumors linking Tom Brady to 49ers

Richard Sherman thinks the 49ers are unlikely to be looking at Tom Brady

After this season, Tom Brady will be a free agent and is projected to leave the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. When free agency begins, other teams will seek to contact Brady, and the San Francisco 49ers' name will continue to be mentioned.

Due to quarterback injuries, the 49ers almost used Christian McCaffrey as their starting quarterback in the NFC Championship Game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Trey Lance, Jimmy Garoppolo, Brock Purdy, and Josh Johnson were all injured at that point, and the franchise may look elsewhere.

However, former 49ers star player Richard Sherman doesn't think the franchise is interested in getting Brady next season. Here's what he said on the "Richard Sherman Podcast" about the situation:

"I don't think anybody's thinking of taking a peek at Tom Brady. Not on this side. You know, I think they'll go with Brock Purdy to start the quarterback to start the season.
"Obviously, they'll treat Try Lance like a starter as well and get him prepared because obviously, they're going to need multiple quarterbacks."

Jimmy Garoppolo is quite likely to leave the San Francisco 49ers in free agency. That would leave Trey Lance and Brock Purdy as the two quarterbacks for the franchise.

Nobody knows who will be QB1 for the 49ers next season, but it is certain that Brock Purdy is going nowhere. Even if the team opts to move forward with Trey Lance as QB1, Purdy will be the best backup quarterback in their system for years to come.

A move for Tom Brady seems unlikely as Kyle Shanahan would rather go with young quarterbacks on much cheaper contracts than Brady.

Miami Dolphins will not pursue Tom Brady

Another team that was rumored to be interested in Brady was the Miami Dolphins. However, as per recent reports, the Dolphins will be sticking with Tua Tagovailoa and will not pursue Brady.

Tagovailoa's health remains a major concern but the Dolphins have made up their minds and will not go after the veteran Bucs QB.

The Las Vegas Raiders remain interested in Brady's services and that seems like the best destination for him as Josh McDaniels is the head coach there. The two worked together previously and might combine again. Apart from McDaniels, the weapons on the offensive end for the Raiders will certainly attract Brady and that move could be possible.
