Russell Wilson is one of three to four quarterbacks competing to become the New York Giants in the 2025 season. But no matter the outcome of the battle, he is not letting it get to his head.
The one-time Super Bowl champion and multiple-time Pro Bowler's biggest rival has been rookie Jaxson Dart, whom the franchise boldly traded for in April's draft. On Thursday, Wilson sidestepped questions about Dart potentially taking over, emphasizing his focus on the present, just as he always has.
"It's always been my approach," Wilson said. "Every day is like I'm trying to be the best in the world. I think that for me, mentally, you have confidence in yourself. You have confidence in what you do, your process. I constantly stay the course and understand that if I'm the best me, I know how great that is."

"And so, for me, I always just stay within," he added. "I don't really think about outside. And I know you guys have a great day job to do and everything else. But for me, I just stay focused on the process of it all."

He also downplayed notions that the Giants needed him as a mentor, something that Brian Daboll seconded, calling it a "natural thing" in a "competitive business."
"The guys that have played and have experience," Daboll said. "They always give good input to the younger guys, and the younger guys' job is to soak up as much information as they can from the coaches... So that is why you try to get some veterans to add to the leadership part of it, which I think we have."
Wan'Dale Robinson praises Russell Wilson after Giants OTAs
Meanwhile, one person who already has an excellent impression of Russell Wilson is wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson, who praised him as someone "that's going to command everything."
“It's been nice," Robinson said. "A guy that's been in this league a long time. He tells you exactly what he wants out there, running routes and the spots he needs you to be in. So, it's been nice.”
He also praised his new quarterback's throwing skills, saying,
“That deep ball really drops right in there… comes in like a pillow… really easy to catch.”
The Giants conclude their offseason/spring training with a mandatory minicamp from June 17 to 19. Their preseason opener is set for August 9 against the Buffalo Bills.
