Ryan Jensen is yet to make an appearance in the NFL this season. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers center picked up a knee injury on the second day of training camp and hasn't recovered completely.

The Buccaneers never released an official statement on Jensen's injury. However, given that he's been out for more than two months, his injury is likely more serious than was initially perceived.

During a training camp practice session, Jensen seemed to have jammed his knee on one of his teammates.

The center was writhing in pain as he lay on the turf. The medics quickly rushed towards him and carted him off the field. The 31-year-old hasn't returned to training with the team and has been on the injured reserve list since September 1.

While speaking to reporters last month, Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles stated that the team was waiting for Jensen's swollen knee to heal:

"I mean, they’re still waiting for the swelling to go down before they make a decision one way or another and we’re all status quo right now."

As of now, there is still no injury update regarding Ryan Jensen. This suggests that he may not be able to suit up for Tampa Bay anytime soon. The Buccaneers are clearly missing his presence on the field despite leading the NFC South standings with three wins and three defeats.

The center played a key part in the Bucs' 2021-22 campaign. He formed part of the foundation of then-head coach Bruce Arians' running game that featured a four-headed threat in Leonard Fournette, Ronald Jones II, Giovani Bernard, and Le'Veon Bell. In leading the maul up front, Jensen indirectly helped quarterback Tom Brady in the passing game, setting up big play-action passes.

Ryan Jensen career and fantasy outlook

Jensen joined the Buccaneers in 2018 after a five-year stint with the Baltimore Ravens. He helped Tampa Bay win the Super Bowl two years later.

Last season, Jensen started in 17 games for the Buccaneers and was crucial to calling their plays, while linking up with quarterback Tom Brady.

With Jensen still ruled out for the Buccaneers, you obviously shouldn't draft him into your fantasy team.
