After Patrick Mahomes' Kansas City Chiefs' lost to the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, 4th December, analyst Skip Bayless made some blunt remarks about the quarterback.

On Undisputed with Shannon Sharpe, on Monday, Bayless criticized Mahomes' gun-slinging style, claiming he throws the ball up for grabs too many times.

Bayless pointed out a few plays in the game where Mahomes just chucked the ball recklessly.

"I blame this mostly on Andy Reid because he just lets this kid, he's still a kid to me, get away with near murder. I'm going to show you a play that happened middle of the third quarter. It's the second-and-10 play, [with] the game seesawing back and forth.
"All of a sudden, if we could see this play, it's a Mahomes throw that he just throws up for grabs and he does way too much. And it should have been picked and it wasn't picked."

Bayless continued:

"But anyway, there's a throw in the middle. He just throws one. He'll just run around and just throw it up for grabs to Scantling. And it came down almost in bingo arms. But he does that way too much. And then we go back to the other side of the ledger. And I thought Cincinnati should have won this game going away because there were some key plays early on."

Mahomes finished the day with a lacklustre performance. He completed 16 out of 27 passes for 223 yards and one touchdown. It wasn't his worst performance, but it didn't help boost his case for the league MVP, which many consider him the favorite to win.

Kansas City would get a chance at a rematch four weeks later, during the AFC Championship game at Arrowhead Stadium. The Bengals edged the Chiefs 27-24 in an overtime victory, where they trailed by 18 points.

Sunday's contest was the third time the Bengals defeated the Chiefs in a calendar year, and the second time they beat them 27-24.
