Chicago Bears offensive tackle Teven Jenkins was injured today in a scary incident against the Philadelphia Eagles. It was already a tough game for the Bears with a losing record coming up against the league’s best in the Eagles. Right at the beginning of the first quarter, he sustained a neck injury.

It happened when Chicago had the ball, and it did not look too serious in the beginning. It quickly became apparent that it was scarier than it looked when he did not get up. The Bears players came in from the sidelines to the midfield as the stretcher and the cart came out. It was immediately clear that this was an injury to the upper part of his body since it needed to be stabilized.

It was already going to be a tough assignment for the Bears to beat the Eagles today. Their odds of winning became just a bit tougher with Teven Jenkins gone.

Teven Jenkins: An up and coming player

When talking about up-and-coming players for the Chicago Bears, we often start and stop with Justin Fields. The starting quarterback was taken in the 2021 NFL Draft. But after he was taken in the first round, in the second round, they took on offensive guard Teven Jenkins. The idea was to create an entire offensive unit.

Starting with some of the snaps from last season, he has been the starter in this season. Justin Fields, a very mobile quarterback, requires the very best of protection and having Jenkins out will affect that. He has definitely been ruled out of the game, but the hope right now is that he can come back on to the field at any time in the future. It is a very tough injury to take, and right now, his health matters more than when he can come back.
