"The most irritating athlete of all time" - NFL analyst rips Russell Wilson for working out on eight-hour flight to London

Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson's recent airplane antics have rubbed some people the wrong way.

Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson's recent actions may have some people feeling a bit annoyed with him. Some of those people may be his Denver Broncos teammates.

After the team traveled to London this week for Sunday's matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Wilson told reporters that he exercised for hours in the aisle of the plane. He then said that he watched film when he returned to his seat and eventually closed his eyes and slept for about an hour. All of this was done while the rest of his teammates and coaches slept on the eight-hour flight.

On Thursday's episode of the "Galaxy Brains" podcast, Denny Carter and Patrick Doherty spoke about Wilson's revelations. Carter said that the Denver Broncos quarterback may be the most irritating athlete ever because of these actions. He said that Wilson actually sounded annoyed that he needed to sleep on the eight-hour, red-eye flight, when most people do so to prepare themselves for the time change.

He then said that he knew, at least, one of his teammates wanted to ask him to sit down so they could sleep.

Denny Carter said, "He said that on the way to London to play the Jaguars this week, he exercised in the aisles to rehab his injured hamstring. He watched film for four hours, took a break, fell asleep for one hour. And he seemed disappointed about this when he's talking to reporters like 'I couldn't help but to come to sleep on this red-eye transit trans Atlantic flight.'
"And then he woke up and watched film for the final hour. So clearly, clearly, maybe the most irritating athlete of all time. His teammates, I'm sure, were just desperately wanting to say and maybe one did say, 'Russ, can you please, for the love of God, sit down and have a beer or a coffee or something. Can you do something normal for once'?"

Patrick Doherty continued by saying that he was shocked that Wilson couldn't relax for just two seconds. Saying that, instead of just chilling out and watching a movie, he chose to watch film to prepare for the game.

Patrick Doherty said, "He's not watching like American Sniper or say, like Disney's Jungle Cruise. Like he's watching football film. Can't relax for even two seconds. And I mean, just do something normal on a plane."

Whether those exercises and preparations will help Wilson keep his hamstring loose and ready to go for Sunday's game remains to be seen. Denver Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett announced on Friday morning that he will start on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

QB Russell Wilson off to worst start of his NFL career

When the Denver Broncos traded for quarterback Russell Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks this offseason, it was expected to turn the team around. Fans had hoped that the quarterback would help the Broncos be a factor in the AFC West that has always been so dominated by the Kansas City Chiefs.

That hasn't happened. In fact, it couldn't be further from where the team stands now. The Denver Broncos are currently 2-5 through the first seven weeks of the season. WIlson currently has a 83.4 passer rating, which is the lowest of his entire 11-year NFL career. He has also completed just 56% of his passes, thrown just five touchdowns and has thrown three interceptions.

The Denver Broncos are currently on a four-game losing streak and will look to stop that this week. They will face a Jacksonville Jaguars team that is also 2-5.
