Former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick continues to struggle to stay out of controversy, though it is no fault of his own.

Ever since he began kneeling to protest police brutality in 2016, he's become a bit of a scapegoat, it would seem.

Colin Kaepernick was reintroduced to that role this week in the wake of the anti-Semitism controversy stirred by Brooklyn Nets star guard Kyrie Irving.

Irving posted a tweet promoting a film that contained several anti-Semitic ideas and was called out for it by many, including the Nets owner. The media were particularly disappointed by the guard's controversial actions, but not Jason Whitlock.

The controversial journalist has never shied away from speaking his mind, and he did so on the topic of Irving's perceived misgivings.

Whitlock brought the former 49ers quarterback's name up in his Fearless podcast, incredulous that a penalty was being considered for Irving but wasn't for Kaepernick:

"We want to suspend Kyrie from playing basketball over a tweet that doesn’t contain one word he wrote? Really? This makes no sense."
"My tin-foil hat tells me Kyrie is loathed by globalists and their corporate media puppets because the system is doing everything in its power to prevent Irving from inspiring other athletes to think for themselves."

He continued, looping the entire theory back to the fact that Irving was a notable NBA player who refused to get vaccinated against COVID-19:

"The system prefers LeBron James and Colin Kaepernick, athletes who do exactly what their handlers tell them to do. Kyrie refused to take the jab. That’s his real offense."

The former 49ers quarterback has not been an active athlete for six years, but his stances have made longtime cynics and it seems that Whitlock may be one of them.

Why did Jason Whitlock bring up ex-49ers star Colin Kaepernick?

Whitlock has never been shy about his political leanings and his opinions on athletes with whom he disagrees. Since 2016, Colin Kaepernick has been the face of that group.

The Fox Sports personality believes that the idea that Irving might be punished for something as inconspicuous as sharing a tweet while Kaepernick dodged punishment for a perceived disrespect towards America is frustrating.

He's ultimately not surprised because he believes the system favors those with left-leaning views, which is why Irving is potentially going to be harshly punished while others are not.
