Tom Brady could likely easily rank his list of top quarterbacks of all time with his eyes closed in less than 10 seconds. However, while putting together his ranking for top NBA players, he omitted one of the greats in Bill Russell, listing Kevin Durant in his place.
While speaking with Durant on the Let's Go! podcast, Tom Brady listed his top NBA players of all time. He listed Kareem Abdul-Jabar, Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Shaquille O'Neil, Wilt Chamberlain, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and Steph Curry. Here's how he put it:
"Alright, this is an impossible argument at the end of the day, but I think you have to put Kareem, MJ, and LeBron. Then I think you obviously got KD and Shaq - I love Shaq to death - Wilt Chamberlain, Steph - the greatest shooter probably of all time - Magic, Larry Bird."
Tom Brady's rise to being ranked as a top quarterback of all time in the NFL
The quarterback has watched most of the greats of the NBA rise to providence just like any other fan. However, he has also lived through a similar rise in his own sport. From a near-anonymous sixth-round pick to becoming the face of football, the quarterback's rise took a linear path.
It started in 2000 when the quarterback joined the New England Patriots at the age of 23. By the end of the 2001-02 season, he was a Super Bowl champion. In 2003 and 2004, he won the Lombardi trophy two more times, proving 2001's win was indeed not a fluke.
In 2007 and 2011, however, Brady proved to be mortal in the biggest game in sports after losing to Eli Manning twice. From 2014 to 2018, the quarterback would go on to reach four more Super Bowls, winning three times. The victories included his most iconic 25-point comeback against the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI.
After joining the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the quarterback was thought by many to be nearing the end.
Instead, he won another title in his first year with the team, bringing his total to seven rings. Now, at age 45, he is still going strong at 3-3.
