Tom Brady is one of (if not the greatest) player to ever play the game of football. As a master of the game, he knows the kind of work it takes to win seven Super Bowls.

Brady recently opened up about younger athletes these days not having the same mental approach to the game that he and many other past athletes have had. Appearing on the DeepCutPodcast, Brady talked about the selfishness that kids have these days.

"I think the biggest problem with a lot of f---ing kids these days is, it's all about them. It's all about them, their brand, their social media, and then when it's about me and then not about us well there's no way to succeed as a team if all you're doing is think about how selfish it is for you to get the attention," Tom Brady said on the Deep Cuts Podcast.

Brady pointed out that for your team to succeed in any sport at any level, you have to be a team player and not a 'me' player.

Tom Brady said he relied on his mental game coming into the draft

Coming out of Michigan during the 2000 NFL Draft, Tom Brady wasn't one of the top picks even at his position. He was a two-year starter at Michigan and didn't have a freak athlete body or the most jaw-dropping stats as a collegiate football player.

Instead, Brady relied on his mental game to bring him success, which eventually led to his refined NFL career.

“I didn’t naturally have the biggest build…but where I really exceed[ed] expectations was my ability mentally to understand what I needed to do,” said Brady. “To be better, to learn the game, to learn the tactics of the game, to learn the discipline of the game, to learn the strategy of the game. Emotionally, how can I bring a positive, team-first attitude every single day? Not self-focused, not self-serving.”

If young athletes can take something from Tom Brady, it's that you don't have to be the most physically gifted athlete to have a successful career. He's also a prime example of how having a strong mental approach and mentality can lead to an abundance of success.
