Tom Brady was announced as one of the high-profile owners of an E1 team in 2023. When the inaugural season of the E1 series launched last year, the former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback's team emerged as the first winners of the UIM E1 World Championship.
Brady revealed the reason why he decided to become a team owner in the all-electric powerboat racing series (via PokerRunsAmerica.com):
"I'm passionate about both the ocean and sustainability. The E1 series is a great opportunity to be involved in a sport that is at the forefront of innovation and action for a sustainable future."
After Week 3 in Dubrovnik, the E1 is scheduled to be held at Lago Maggiore, Monaco, Lagos, and Miami. Brady's team is ranked No. 5 this season, with racers Sam Coleman and Emma Kimilainen sharing 33 points between themselves. Tennis legend Rafael Nadal's team is at the top of the standings heading into Week 3 with 72 total points.
New England Patriots to commemorate Tom Brady's legacy with heartfelt tribute
The former quarterback created history while playing for the New England Patriots. They drafted Brady with the No. 199 pick in the 2000 NFL draft. Since taking over as the starting quarterback in 2001, Brady has led the team to six Super Bowls in 20 seasons.
Now, the Patriots have decided to honor Tom Brady's legacy with the team grandly. On Thursday, the team shared a post on X/Twitter that they will unveil the bronze statue of the former quarterback during their preseason game against the Washington Commanders on Aug. 8.
Patriots owner Robert Kraft announced the news of having Tom Brady's statue last year. It was during his induction into the Patriots Hall of Fame on Thursday.
