Insider thinks Tom Brady should retire

When Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady re-joined the team after initially retiring this offseason, it caught many by surprise.

In Brady's first two seasons with the Bucs, they won a Super Bowl and made it to the divisional round of the playoffs last year. However, they've struggled this season, currently sitting with a 3-4 record, and could miss the postseason.

Analyst Mike Florio spoke on Pro Football Talk urging Brady to retire, saying the game is too violent and fast-paced for the 45-year-old quarterback.

Florio said:

"The sport is too dangerous. The game is too violent. The players are too big, strong and fast. And Tom Brady's too frickin' old at this point. To view it as quitting, no one's going to call a guy who played past his 45th birthday a quitter."

Florio added that he thinks Brady could make a decision before Week 18 to retire.

He added:

"But at some point between Week 1 and Week 18, no doubt. I'm with you, Mike. And there's no shame in that area. And I want him to write, but I think it would be worse for him to say, 'I'm not a quitter.'"

Through seven weeks of the 2022 regular season, the Buccaneers own the tiebreaker in the NFC South with the Atlanta Falcons as both teams share a 3-4 record.

Tampa Bay defeated Atlanta earlier this season in their first meeting, which is why they currently own the tiebreaker.

Last season, the Bucs had all but four losses in the regular season as they went 13-4. They've matched their loss total in just seven games this season and don't look like the juggernaut that they've been the last two seasons.

Many look to Tom Brady's marriage woes with Gisele Bundchen to explain the Buccaneers' pedestrian performances this campaign.

However, it's still early on in the season and the Bucs could get hot in December/January and still make a proper playoff run.
