Tom Brady's views on Janet Jackson's infamous Super Bowl malfunction sparks heated debate

Super Bowl history is probably incomplete without Janet Jackson's infamous 2004 halftime show malfunction. Featuring Jackson and Justin Timberlake, the performance ended up being more controversial than people would have anticipated. While on the "Let's Go!" podcast, Tom Brady recently chimed in on the incident.

According to Brady, the whole controversy was benefecial to the NFL. After all, any publicity can be good publicity.

“I think, in the end, it was probably a good thing for the NFL because everyone got to talk about it, and it was just more publicity and more publicity for halftime shows,” Tom Brady said. “Is any publicity bad publicity? That’s what they say. So, who knows?”

Most fans were furious with Brady's comments. While Timberlake was let off by most, Jackson bore the brunt of the the incident. She even apologized publicly, as people were blaming her for orchestrating the moment. Here are some of the top comments from Twitter:

That being said, Jackson did face a lot of backlash for the scandal, with Timberlake providing an apology later on. In 2007, he admitted that Jackson was unfairly blamed, and that he regrets not supporting her more.


Tom Brady didn't know about the Super Bowl halftime show debacle until later

While on "Let's Go!," Brady revealed that he did not find out about the situation until it was done. Brady was busy concentrating on the Super Bowl, which was between the Carolina Panthers and his New England Patriots. The Patriots won 32-29.

Interestingly, MTV never produced a halftime show after the 2004 Super Bowl.
