Daniel Jones stunned NFL fans last week by receiving his release from the New York Giants despite signing a monstrous four-year, $160-million contract extension during the 2023 offseason. Arguably, the greatest legend in the game has some harsh words for it.
During Fox's broadcast of the Thanksgiving game between the Giants and Cowboys, Tom Brady compared the current situation to challenges he faced during his career.
"I don't know how the whole situation went down, but to think you would ask for a release from a team that committed a lot to you is different (from how) I would have handled that," Brady said. "I always felt (that) I wanted to get the trust and respect of my teammates regardless of the situation, knowing that I was trying to do the best I could for the team, because that was the most important thing."
He continued:
"I think we're all at points in our careers and face different challenges. I faced them in college, and some things didn't go the way I wanted, but the people that mattered most to me were the guys in the locker room. I showed up every day. I didn't care if they asked me to be scout team safety (or) quarterback. I was going to do whatever I could to help the team win."
Sam Darnold reacts to Daniel Jones joining Vikings
Just days after he left East Rutherford, Daniel Jones began a new chapter in his career, joining the Minnesota Vikings as a backup. Sam Darnold, currently starting in place of the injured JJ McCarthy, was nothing but happy to welcome him to Minneapolis, saying in Wednesday's press conference:
"I’ve spent some time with him in the past," he said during Wednesday's press conference. "He’s played a lot of football, so just to be able to draw from his experience on certain things is going to help this football team. For him to be able to come in here with this locker room, this coaching staff, just the organization as a whole... we just got great people here, and I’m just excited."
Meanwhile, former ESPN correspondent Trey Wingo believes Jones' arrival will eventually coincide with Darnold's departure. He wrote on X:
