With the NFL world still in shock following Damar Hamlin's collapse during Monday Night Football, Twitter rallied behind a great cause. The internet started donating to his toy fundraiser, which started when he played for the Pittsburgh Panthers and raised millions in donations.

Hamlin is only in his second NFL season, but he created his charity while he was still in college. His goal was to raise $2,500, but this number was shattered with ease, even if it took a tragedy for this to happen.

One of the top donors has been Tom Brady, the person who earned the most money in the history of the NFL. He decided to quietly donate $10k to Hamlin's foundation. Brady himself pledged four times the amount that the Buffalo Bills' safety wanted to get.

Other notable donors include Lloyd Cushenberry and Eric Andrews, who donated $1,000 each; Russell Wilson and Andy Dalton donated undisclosed values; the Washington Commanders donated $5,000, and the Seattle Seahawks donated another $1,000.

Damar Hamlin's toy drive now crosses over $5 million

The amount raised by the safety's GoFundMe page has now grown to a huge number, with over $5.5 million, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

The tragedy that led fans to donate huge amounts of money to Hamlin's foundation gave the opportunity to many teammates, members of the family and the community to show how much of an amazing person he is.

The latest medical report came directly from his uncle, who said that he was out of 100% oxygen and now only 50% oxygen. He remains in critical condition, but slow progress is still progress.

Monday night was a dark night for the Buffalo Bills and football. Obviously, the sport comes with some risk, but to see a life-threatening incident out of a completely normal tackle was as scary as it gets, especially being a primetime game. Here's to a full recovery for Damar, and the hope that his foundation will help children in the years to come.
