While the Washington Commanders are preparing for the upcoming NFL season, their star wide receiver, Terry McLaurin, is nowhere to be seen. It was earlier reported that the 29-year-old is seeking a contract extension on his deal that ends after the 2025 season.
Newer reports suggested that the WR will not attend the team's mandatory minicamp on Tuesday. McLaurin did the same back in 2022, when he skipped the OTAs and the minicamps to get a three-year contract extension.
This move, however, did not go down well with Commanders fans as many took to social media to make their feelings known.

A few Commanders fans even demanded that McLaurin be traded in exchange for the Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker, TJ Watt.
"commanders downfall WE ARE HERE!," wrote this fan.
"TJ Watt for Terry Mclaurin and a 1st," tweeted this fan.
On the other hand, some fans believe that Terry McLaurin should be paid whatever he has asked for:
"If the Commanders hope to compete in the future they better sign their man," tweeted this fan.
Ian Rapoport weighs in on the Terry McLaurin and the Washington Commanders situation
The future of Terry McLaurin hangs in the balance. The star wants the Commanders to offer him a long-term deal and is frustrated with the franchise not offering him one already.
Speaking on "The Pat McAfee Show," Ian Rapoport gave his thoughts on the situation:
"I know Terry was not there for a lot of it. And I would say very much up in the air whether he shows up this week at a contract situation that as of right now, is not great."
McLaurin had an amazing 2024. He recorded a career-best of 13 touchdowns and also made 82 catches for 1,096 yards. It'll be interesting to see what the future holds for the WR.
