As a rookie, Hunter received his first Madden rating in the 2026 installment of the iconic video game. Even after Cincinnati Bengals legend Chad Johnson suggested that Hunter might not receive a high rating due to his status as a rookie, the Jaguars star made it clear that he would receive a higher rating.

Buffaloes reporter Ben Armendariz shared a video of Hunter talking about his Madden rating.

"I'm not worried about Madden rating right now. I'm worried about playing football," Hunter said.

Travis: "Yeah. it's always fun talking to Ocho."

Travis: "I believe in myself, so I know I'll be able to cover him."

Travis Hunter is coming off a remarkable junior season with the Colorado Buffaloes. He was a dual threat for Deion Sanders' team, posting 96 receptions for 1,979 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns.

On the other end, he posted 36 tackles, one for loss, one forced fumble and four interceptions. He won the Heisman Trophy with the Buffaloes and now wants to make a similar impact on the Jaguars.

Travis Hunter debated his potential Madden rating with Chad Johnson

One would have imagined Travis Hunter would have gotten a higher rating in the new edition of Madden. Fans brought up an interaction between Hunter and Chad Johnson, where they debated what the rookie's rating should be.

"If it ain’t an 85 and above, see that trophy back there [Heisman Trophy]? We could 1-v-1 for it," Hunter said.
"Listen, the best I could do for you, as a rookie coming into the league, I give you a 76," Johnson replied.
"A 76?" Hunter said.
"We’ll do 10 routes. I promise you, we'll do 10 routes. If you can stop me on just one of ten, I promise you I’ll give you a 90 as a rookie—first ever.” Johnson said.

The biggest challenge will be trying to make the Jaguars a competitive team again, but Travis Hunter is ready to leave a mark on the NFL.
