Travis Kelce SNL monologue: Chiefs star takes a dig at Patrick Mahomes and brother Jason

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce hosted "Saturday Night Live" and opened his monologue by taking digs at his brother, Patrick Mahomes, and himself.

Kelce started by saying that he was nervous about creating the monologue but then remembered that he had an eloquent way with words. He then went on to show clips of him simply yelling "more" to his teammates during games. He then said that quarterback Patrick Mahomes would even do so, and then proceeded to take a dig at Mahomes' voice. But he quickly said that he loved his quarterback.

"Love you, Pat,"

Patrick Mahomes wasn't the only person close to Travis Kelce who was roasted. The Chiefs' tight end then moved on to his older brother, Jason. He said that many have asked what it was like to play against and then defeat his older brother and the Philadelphia Eagles.

He started by saying that it was awkward and then joked that it was especially awkward because the brothers had to ride home together in their mother's minivan.

"People keep asking me what it was like to beat my brother in the Super Bowl and um, it was, pretty awkward. Especially because after the game we had to ride home together. Our mom drove us there in her minivan."

Travis Kelce also joked that his brother was happy for him to win his second Lombardi Trophy and that he too agreed that it was a holding penalty at the end of the game. The camera panned to Jason, sitting in the front row, who appeared not to be amused by his brother's joke.

Who was the last NFL player to host SNL before Travis Kelce?

Being chosen to host "Saturday Night Live" is a big honor, especially for professional athletes who don't typically get the opportunity to do so.

The recently retired defensive end J.J. Watt was chosen to host the late-night show in February 2020.

Before that, it was two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback Eli Manning who hosted SNL in May 2012. His older brother Peyton was also honored with hosting duties in March 2007.

So, it's not often that NFL fans have to wait to see a star NFL player given the hosting duties. Which leaves many wondering who will be next.
