Trevor Lawrence and Justin Herbert are expected to be future NFL superstars if they already are not. Today, we got to see both of them go head-to-head when the Los Angeles Chargers played the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC Super Wild Card round.
The game started poorly for Trevor Lawrence. He threw four interceptions in the first half alone as the Chargers raced out to a 27-0 lead. However, he roared back with four touchdown passes, including some deep throws.
Justin Herbert had a good game too. He threw for one touchdown pass but led them to 30 points in the game. Were it not for a missed field goal in the second half, it is conceivable that the Chargers would have won the game.
Both showed flashes of genius and it looks to be a battle that will keep brewing in the future.

Trevor Lawrence put his nightmare first half behind him to come back and threw one touchdown pass at the end of the half and three more in the second. He ended up with 288 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions. However, it hardly captures the intangibles: taking responsibility for the comeback and keeping calm under pressure.
No doubt after the loss Trevor Lawrence will be happier than Justin Herbert. Lawrence looks set to be a star for the future. However, with the right kind of leadership, Herbert looks to be a force to reckon with in the future as well.
As the Jacksonville Jaguars celebrate, NFL neutrals should also appreciate having two young quarterbacks playing at such a high level in the postseason. They add to the glut of already great quarterbacks in the AFC, joining Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow and the likes.
In both of their first postseason games, Trevor Lawrence came out on top over Justin Herbert. The Jaguars will move on in the playoffs whereas the Chargers will go back home. We hope it is the first of many duels to come in the future.
