Tua Tagovailoa to retire? QB's brother explains Dolphins star's mindset towards football

The Miami Dolphins confirmed that quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion in the team's 26-20 loss to Aaron Rodgers' Green Bay Packers on Christmas Eve.

Tagovailoa supposedly suffered a concussion in the final two minutes of the second half after being shoved to the ground. The quarterback was in fine form in the first half against the Packers but suffered an alarming dip in the second.

He threw three interceptions on three consecutive drives, resulting in a defeat for the Dolphins.

This is the second confirmed concussion that Tagovailoa has suffered this season. He was carted off the field with a head injury during the Dolphins' loss to the Cincinnati Bengals back in September.

Many have wondered whether head injuries will force Tua Tagovailoa to retire. However, his brother Taulia Tagovailoa confirmed that quitting is not an option for the Dolphins star. He said:

“I just feel like he’s not going to stop playing football. I feel like every opportunity he has, he is going to try to play. I don’t know, it’s just ‘Go until the wheels fall off.’”

Tua Tagovailoa will decide for himself, claims brother Taulia

Taulia Tagovailoa, a quarterback at Maryland University, told the Associated Press:

“Everyone has their opinion. My brother, I know he works hard. I know he has a family now. I want my brother to be safe, but at the same time I know that he has a love and a passion for football.
“I feel like he is going to make the right decision. The biggest thing is staying safe, so that is something he has to pray on. I know when it comes down to it, he will make the right decision.”

Taulia, who is in Maryland for the Duke's Mayo Bowl, has clarified that Tua's latest head injury won't force him into retiring prematurely. CTE expert Dr. Bennett Omalu has advised the Dolphins quarterback to retire from football. However, he is determined to power through and play in the NFL.

Concussions have forced many great players to retire early, but Tua Tagovailoa seems determined not to join that list.
