Von Miller injury update: Is the Bills superstar out for the season?

The Buffalo Bills received the worst possible news about edge rusher Von Miller on Wednesday, December 7. Bills head coach Sean McDermott announced that Miller did have exploratory surgery yesterday and although they repaired his ACL, he is out for the remainder of the season.

On Thanksgiving, Miller exited the game against the Detroit Lions due to a knee injury that was deemed a lateral meniscus tear. It was then reported that Miller would be out for the next two-to-four weeks. He was placed on injured reserve on December 1, 2022, which meant he would miss at least the next four weeks.

While the hope was that Miller would only miss two games, the Bills certainly now have to face the reality that they will be without him for the rest of the season.

What stings more is that Buffalo signed Von Miller in March to a six-year, $120 million deal. Miller has proved to be worth the lucrative contract. He led the Bills defense this season and was still a productive pass rusher in his 12th season in the NFL. In 11 games played for the Bills, Miller recorded 21 total tackles, eight sacks, one forced fumble, and two pass deflections.

Even without Von Miller, the Buffalo Bills can still win the Super Bowl this season

The Buffalo Bills snuck into first place in the AFC this week. With the Kansas City Chiefs losing to the Cincinnati Bengals this past week, it put them at 9-3 which is the same record as the Bills after they defeated Detroit on Thanksgiving.

Despite this huge loss to their defense, the Bills can still win without Von Miller. His presence will doubtless be missed on the field, but his experience will be useful off it.

Buffalo's defense is still a strong one, and their offense is as potent as any in the NFL. They can outscore opponents and make plays at crucial points in games. They look set to be in the playoffs in some form and will look to defeat the New York Jets in Week 14.

We will see how they get on without Von Miller in the coming weeks.
