The fate of the Washington Commanders is still up in the air. However, the league and fans will likely have a clearer idea of where the franchise is heading after Super Bowl weekend.

Late last year, Dan and Tanya Snyder hired Bank of America Securities to explore possibilities for a partial or full sale of the NFL franchise.

There have been multiple reports that Commanders owner Dan Snyder has received bids north of $7 billion. This would easily eclipse the $4.65 billion sale of the Denver Broncos to Rob Walton and company.

Per New York Post's Charles Gasparino, the Snyders will likely sell the franchise in the weeks after the Super Bowl.

Washington was earlier listed as the sixth-most valuable franchise in the NFL by Forbes. The team’s value was pegged at $5.6 billion last year. Snyder paid a total of $750 million for the team back in 1999.

Dan Snyder, of course, finally put the franchise up for sale after mounting allegations across the board, ranging from sexual misconduct to cultivating a toxic workplace environment. There were also some allegations pertaining to the Commanders owner falsifying profit-sharing documents.

Washington Commanders news: Jeff Bezos, potential bidders lining up for franchise

Washington Nationals owner Ted Lerner was one of the names linked with a bid for the franchise. With a reported net worth of $6.1 billion, Lerner may possibly need to get other investors on board before submitting a bid. But he has been credited with strong interest in becoming an NFL owner.

Jay-Z, the first billionaire in hip-hop history, and Amazon’s Jeff Bezos have also been linked with the Washington franchise sale. There were rumors floating around that the two could join forces for a bid.

However, it remains to be seen if there’s any conflict of interest with Bezos’ bid, considering Amazon has the rights to Thursday Night Football.
