The mystery surrounding Aaron Rodgers' NFL future has finally come to an end. On Thursday, the Pittsburgh Steelers announced that after weeks of back-and-forth, the 4x NFL MVP Rodgers has agreed to play in the Steel City on a one-year deal with the team.

However, Steelers insider Mike DeFabo was not too happy with Aaron Rodgers joining the team. On Thursday, he shared a tweet on X talking about his doubts in the Steelers' choices.

DeFabo pointed out that the franchise is once again betting on an old quarterback instead of focusing on developing a young signal caller.

"The Steelers promised they wouldn't do the same thing and expect different results," DeFabo wrote. "But here they are, for the third time, betting on the NFL's highest paid defense to prop up an aging QB. We've seen this movie before with Big Ben & Russell Wilson."

Last season, the Steelers had Russell Wilson and Justin Fields on the depth chart. Under them, the team made it to the Wild Card round of the playoffs while ending with a 10-7 record.

Aaron Rodgers, on the other hand, had an underwhelming two-season stint with the Jets. His debut campaign was marred by a season-ending injury. When he made a comeback in 2024, he could only muster a 5-12 campaign with the team. This led to them parting ways with the Super Bowl XLV champion in February.

RGIII shares his take on all-in mentality for Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers after finalizing his deal

The upcoming season is going to have the utmost importance for the Steelers as a franchise. After Rodgers announced his decision, ex-NFL star Robert Griffin III shared a tweet on X outlining the expectations from the veteran quarterback.

RGIII stated that all of the offseason moves by the Steelers indicate that they are hoping to compete in the Super Bowl this upcoming season. If Rodgers fails to lead the team to the playoffs and Super Bowl contention, then the fan base will be loud in voicing their demands for change.

"The Pittsburgh Steelers have to be Super Bowl Contenders with Aaron Rodgers as QB," RGIII wrtoe. "Every move the Pittsburgh Steelers have made this offseason was with the belief that they are ready to win it all now. As if all they needed was Aaron Rodgers to get there.

"They haven't been able to find their franchise QB since Big Ben's retirement. They haven't developed one and they aren't using this year to develop one either. They are all in on Aaron Rodgers being the QB who can make enough plays to get them over the hump and not make plays to hurt them.... If he doesn't and the Steelers don't make a deep playoff run, the demand for changes will be deafening."

The last time the Steelers made the Super Bowl was in Super Bowl XLV. That was when Aaron Rodgers defeated them while he was still playing for the Packers. The veteran will now look to lead the team he once beat to lift the Lombardi Trophy.
