AFC Wild Card Playoffs - Baltimore Ravens v Cincinnati Bengals
Misdemeanor charges were dropped against Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon

According to prosecution documents released on Thursday, Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon allegedly pointed a revolver at a woman late in January, told her "she should be popped in the face," and boasted that "the police can't get me."

The event happened a day before the Bengals' divisional playoff game versus the Buffalo Bills, based on an affidavit submitted to Hamilton County (Ohio) Municipal Court.

"The club knows that Joe Mixon has been charged with a misdemeanor. The club is looking into the matter and will not say anything else at this time," the Bengals reported.

Peter Schaffer, a representative for Mixon, told Tom Pelissero of NFL Network that they anticipated no charges would be filed, blaming the cops for the occurrence.

The warrant, as per charging documents, was for a case of aggravated menacing, defined as an incident where someone intentionally causes someone to fear for their physical safety, the safety of their possessions, an unborn baby, or a part of their close relatives.

Aggravated menacing, which Mixon was accused of, is a first-degree misdemeanor under Ohio State Laws and Regulations. Mixon could have potentially received a fine and up to 6 months behind bars if he was found guilty.

On Friday afternoon, however, the allegations were dismissed at the behest of local prosecutors.

According to WCPO's video, the prosecution requested dismissal "because we would need extra investigation before we could move forward with this case.".

However, the prosecution suggested they could revisit the accusations in the future.

Joe Mixon was charged with misdemeanor before

Since his days as an Oklahoma student-athlete, Joe Mixon has had a history of off-field issues.

The 26-year-old was accused of misdemeanor assault in 2014 after punching a woman.

In his Alford plea, Mixon acknowledged that there was sufficient proof to convict him. He received behavioral therapy, 100 years of community service, and a one-year probationary period.

Later, footage of the incident went viral. Amelia Molitor, the woman in question, suffered a shattered jaw and cheekbone due to Mixon's strike. They later reached an amicable agreement, according to multiple reports.

The incident harmed his draft prospects after numerous organizations claimed they bypassed him due to reservations about his ethics.

Before June 1, Mixon could be cut by the Bengals, freeing up $7.2 million in cap room. It will be $10 million after June 1.

Joe Mixon ran for 814 yards and seven scores this season. Additionally, he had two scores and a career-high 60 catches for 441 yards.
