It's still the preseason, but the Buffalo Bills have officially lost linebacker Matt Milano for a long time. The Pro Bowl linebacker went down in Tuesday's practice with an arm injury, later diagnosed as a torn bicep. That has him officially out indefinitely.Adam Schefter broke the news:"Bills Pro-Bowl linebacker Matt Milano, who left Tuesday’s practice injured, tore his bicep and now will be out indefinitely. Milano will undergo surgery on his torn bicep with the hope of trying to return later this season, possibly in December."A torn bicep requires a lengthy recovery, especially after Milano has surgery. Four months is the average length of recovery time, and Milano is targeting a December return. However, any setbacks would push him into January when the season is almost done. The Bills will presumably be a playoff team once again, and if they are, that may be the only time they get Milano's services.Sean McDermott recently praised Matt Milano's comebackMatt Milano has dealt with injuries for much of his career, including a season-ending injury suffered early on during last season. He had worked his way back from that, and head coach Sean McDermott even praised him for it.Matt Milano has sustained an injury and will be out (Imagn)The Buffalo Bills coach said, via Sports Illustrated:“With respect to Matt, it reminds me of, you’re around injuries where it takes a year to really get themselves back, [and] I’m not saying it’s going to take him a year, but I do think it’s him getting re-acclimated to moving at full speed, playing at full speed, and then trusting that he’s back."He went on to say that it's not all physical, but that he's seen an improvement and watched him make a good play against James Cook. Unfortunately, that progress is now pointless since Milano cannot play thanks to a different injury. He missed all but five weeks of the NFL season last year, and it looks like he'll be lucky to play that many this year if he can recover in time to return at all.
