It's time to concentrate on the NFL's upcoming significant event - free agency - now that the season is over.

The offseason goals of every NFL franchise will undoubtedly be at the center of their thoughts. From the draft, which will offer teams a chance to sign the next best players, to the topic of this discussion, free agency, signing a great player rather than just a known player on the free agent market is always on the cards.

Even though the 2022 NFL season has ended, the commencement of the next league year is only a couple of weeks away. That will happen on March 15 at 3 pm. The start of the next league year will also mark the start of NFL free agency.

Teams can apply franchise or transition tags to players starting on February 21 and continuing till March 7. That might preemptively remove potential free players from the market. However, a few events will occur before that to conclude the ongoing league calendar.

The legal tampering period, beginning on March 13, 2023, will provide teamswith a 2-day notice before the commencement of free agency to start talks with the agencies of various players.

Other teams are prohibited from finalizing agreements with players before the start of free agency. Violations can lead to monetary penalties and loss of draft selections.
