Where did Paxton Lynch go to college? Exploring Orlando Guardians Star QB's college football stats

Quarterback Paxton Lynch of the Denver Broncos

XFL team Orlando Guardians QB Paxton Lynch attended Memphis University for three years after being recruited by the school's scouting team.

Lynch was a three-star quarterback recruit out of Trinity Christian Academy, the high school where he played organized football for the first time. The University of Memphis took a chance with Lynch, and it's fair to say that it was a resounding success.

He started his college career by redshirting in his first season with the Memphis Tigers. Following his redshirt season, Lynch was named the Tigers' starting quarterback ahead of the 2013 season. He was erratic for the Tigers in his first year at center, putting up a stat line of 2,056 yards, nine touchdowns and ten interceptions in 12 games.

He entered his second season as a starter with something to prove, as critics asked to be benched to start the 2014 season.

The Tigers' coaching staff kept faith with the young Paxton Lynch, and he vindicated their faith. Lynch had a stunning sophomore season, becoming one of the better players in the country at the amateur level.

He passed for 3,031 yards, 22 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He also added 321 yards and 13 rushing touchdowns. Lynch closed out the season by earning MVP honors at the 2014 Miami Beach Bowl with 306 yards, four passing touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns performance.

Lynch entered his third season as a starter with an improved reputation and a chip on his broad shoulders. He had a stellar final season with the Tigers, with his peak performance coming in a 63–0 Tigers' win over Southern Methodist University.

Lynch was world-class in that game, throwing for an absurd seven passing touchdowns, all thrown to different receivers. He ended his last season with the Tigers with 3,778 yards, 28 touchdowns and a paltry four interceptions. He graduated with a B.S.E. in sport and leisure management and declared for the 2016 NFL draft.

Paxton Lynch's NFL Career Timeline

Paxton Lynch was a hot commodity heading into the 2016 NFL draft, as teams fawned over his height, skill and deceptive mobility in the pocket. He was eventually drafted by the Denver Broncos as the 26th pick of the draft. He joined a team with NFL-caliber starting QBs, Jared Goff and Carson Wentz.

Lynch tried his best in the NFL but couldn't translate his college form to the professional level. First, he was limited to a paltry five appearances in Denver over three seasons.

He put up a stat line of 792 passing yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions for the season. Stats that don't precisely cream starter from the jump. Paxton Lynch was eventually released by the Broncos at the end of the 2018 season, and he hasn't started an NFL game since then.
