“Wolverine is a bad***, and Russell Wilson is not” - NFL analyst roasts Broncos QB for comparing himself to iconic X-Men hero

Russell Wilson's start to life as the Denver Broncos' franchise quarterback has been less than ideal. It is definitely far from what the former Seattle Seahawks star would have envisioned. The Broncos are 2-4 and have failed to score 20 points in five of their six games. In the one game they managed to breach that mark, they lost 32-23 against divisional rivals, the Las Vegas Raiders.

Wilson's performances have left a lot to be desired. The quarterback has thrown for over 300 passing yards only once this season and is on pace for only 14 touchdown passes this season. That's not what the Broncos expected when they handed Wilson a five-year, $245 million extension after acquiring him in a blockbuster trade.

The quarterback picked up a severe hamstring injury in the Broncos' Week 6 loss against the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday night, but claimed he will recover from it quickly because he has "Wolverine blood."

On NBC Sports' Galaxy Brains, hosts Patrick Daugherty and Denny Carter ridiculed the quarterback for comparing himself to an X-Men character. While discussing Wilson's quote, Carter said:

"We have to counter that by saying, absolutely, you do not have Wolverine blood, Russell Wilson. And here's how I know the actual character, Wolverine from X-Men is a badass, and Russell Wilson is not. There are many, many differences between the two but that one jumps out to me most."

Daugherty quipped:

"Yeah. I mean, I've seen a wolverine kill some people. I've seen Russell Wilson kill some drives by putting the football end to the turf."

Russell Wilson injury: Will QB play vs. New York Jets?

Wilson has been a limited participant in practice throughout the week, but threw the ball in practice on Friday. The Super Bowl-winning quarterback has been ruled out by Broncos head Nathaniel Hackett against the New York Jets.

With the Broncos in desperate need of a win, this is some very bad news for the franchise. Brett Rypien will start under center for Denver in this tricky fixture. With Wilson on the sidelines, the game just got a lot tougher for the Broncos, who have to find a way to win this match.

It will be interesting to see if they can record a vital win in Week 7.
