“NFL fine this man!”, “He’ll go down in Chicago history” – NFL fans left in splits over Justin Fields’ hilarious 'woah, pause' press conference

Philadelphia Eagles v Chicago Bears
Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields had everyone laughing after talking about an encounter he had on Sunday afternoon.

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields broke the 1,000-yard rushing milestone for the season on Sunday afternoon against the Philadelphia Eagles. He also had a breakout run that nearly saw him score a touchdown, although he gave a 110% effort, the Bears were unable to get a win over the one-loss Eagles.

While speaking to the media about Sunday's game, the Bears quarterback recounted a seven-yard run in which he was tackled by Ndamukong Suh.

He mentioned having a "300-pound player" land on his back. Realizing what and how he said it sounded a little inappropriate, he laughed and said, "Woah, pause," and regrouped his thoughts. The hysterical encounter had everyone on Twitter talking as well.

Some fans said that quotes like that will guarantee him a spot in the Chicago sports history books. Others joked that the entire story was worthy of a fine by the National Football League.

Bears QB Justin Fields says that there have been 'too many times' that he hasn't gotten a late hit call

Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields is a mobile quarterback. He can throw the ball deep down the field as well as use his legs and rush down the field to make a play happen. He is one of the most athletic quarterbacks in the National Football League. He proved as much this past week as he took off past the Eagles' defense.

However, according to Fields, there have been too many occasions when he has slid and the opposing defense has still hit him late. He said that in most of those incidents, he didn't get the flag:

"I mean, there's just been too many times where I've slid and hit too late and I don't get the flag."

Fields also said that veteran quarterbacks are more likely to get that call. However, roughing the passer has become a hot-button issue this season in the NFL. Officiating crews have not utilized the penalty in the correct circumstances, according to many fans and pundits alike.

In the Bears quarterback's case, when he was tackled by Ndamukong Suh on Sunday after sliding, it perhaps should have been given a flag.

The Chicago Bears may be just 3-11 on the season, but they have shown some promise for the future, especially with their young, dynamic quarterback.
