NFL Throwback: George Kittle went full beast mode in 2019 classic vs Saints

San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle after the win over New Orleans Saints in 2019

George Kittle has been one of the NFL's top tight ends since being drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2017 NFL Draft. However, Kittle turned into a beast in Week 14 of the 2019-2020 season against the New Orleans Saints.

It was a high-scoring matchup between two of the best teams in both the NFC and the NFL. 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo targeted Kittle eight times in the game. The star tight end had six receptions for 67 yards and a touchdown. His lone touchdown of the game came in the third quarter on a five-yard pass from Garoppolo.

The longest reception for Kittle was for 39 yards, coming in the fourth quarter on a fourth and two from their own 33-yard line. On that drive, the 49ers kicked a game-winning 30-yard field goal off the leg of Robbie Gould. In the end, San Francisco defeated New Orleans 48-46.

The 49ers faced the Saints in the 2020-2021 season, but Kittle suffered a minor fracture in his foot during the team's Week 8 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. He was placed on injured reserve soon after. However, the former Iowa Hawkeyes star will have his chance to face the Saints once again in Week 12 at Levi's Stadium.

George Kittle is ready for the New Orleans Saints

If George Kittle can put on a show as he did against the New Orleans Saints again, San Francisco 49ers fans will rejoice.

So far this season, the three-time Pro Bowler has 33 receptions for 424 yards and four touchdowns in eight games. He missed the first two games due to a groin injury.

He is tied for fourth among tight ends with four touchdowns and seventh in yards per game with 53 yards per game.

It remains to be seen if George Kittle can match in Week 12 what he did in the 2019-2020 season against the Saints.
