The New England Patriots lost on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders in arguably the most bizarre fashion in NFL history.

On the game's final play, the Patriots had the ball at their 44-yard line with three seconds to go and no timeouts. With a passing play out of the question, the Patriots called a rush and Rhamondre Stevenson managed to gain a chunk of yards as the Raiders offense was playing prevent against a potential Hail Mary attempt.

The Patriots running back tossed a lateral pass to wide receiver Jakobi Meyers to keep the play alive. After seeing no possible route to advance the ball, Meyers inexplicably threw a lateral almost 20 yards deep to Mac Jones, but his bizarre pass was picked off by former Patriots star Chandler Jones, who stiff-armed Mac Jones and scored a walk-off touchdown. Watch the hard-to-believe sequence below:

Observers and fans who saw the play on social media after the game were also left flabbergasted by the finish. Here are some of the best reactions to the play:

Raiders get controversial call go their way vs. Patriots

Before the drive where the Patriots cooked up the most bizarre self-inflicted wound in NFL history, the Raiders got a controversial decision going their way.

With 37 seconds left in the game, the Raiders had the ball at the Patriots 30-yard line and Derek Carr decided to launch a pass into the endzone toward Keenan Cole. The wide receiver pulled off an incredible catch for a touchdown, but the replay suggested that while landing, his toe may have been out of bounds.

The officials let the touchdown stand, citing that there was no clear and obvious evidence that his foot landed on the white strip outside on the side of the endzone. However, fans argued that it was clear and obvious that Cole's toe was out of bounds:

The touchdown was allowed to stand, which tied the score, and the Patriots then proceeded to somehow lose the game after the clock had expired. A bizarre finish.
