Super Bowl XXVI Redskins vs Bills

Super Bowl XXVI was played on January 26, 1992, at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Washington Redskins, champions of the NFC, faced off against the Buffalo Bills, champions of the AFC.

Super Bowl XXVI was coached by Joe Gibbs for the Washington Redskins and Marv Levy for the Buffalo Bills. It was only the second Super Bowl to be played in cold weather conditions.

The Redskins had a solid regular season, finishing with a 14-2 record. Washington won their division and then defeated the Atlanta Falcons, the Detroit Lions, and the NFC Championship Game against the Detroit Lions to advance to the Super Bowl.

Quarterback Mark Rypien led the team's offense, completing 280 passes for 3,564 yards and 28 touchdowns. The Redskins' defense had significant contributions from All-Pro defensive back Darrell Green and linebacker Wilber Marshall, who recorded 5.5 sacks and 4 forced fumbles during the season, and the "Hogs" offensive line that helped pave the way for the running game.

The Bills also had a successful regular season, finishing with a record of 13-3. They won their division and then defeated the Kansas City Chiefs, the Denver Broncos, and the AFC Championship Game against the Denver Broncos to advance to the Super Bowl.

Quarterback Jim Kelly guided the team's offense, completing 291 passes for 3,130 yards and 21 touchdowns. The Bills' defense had a down year due to injuries, most notably defensive end Bruce Smith.
