Roger Goodell is reportedly set to stick around as the NFL commissioner for a few more years. The 64-year-old is expected to sign a three-year extension as the football league's chief.

With the news filtering out, fans are now curious to learn more about Goodell's salary as the NFL commissioner. Additionally, some want to know whether he makes more than NBA chief Adam Silver.

Goodell took over as NFL commissioner on August 6, 2006, and has held the position ever since.

Over his 16-year tenure as commissioner, he has reportedly made over $500 million. According to reports, he earned around $128 million over the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons. Goodell is projected to make more than a mouthwatering $64 million in 2023.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver, meanwhile, earns a reported $10 million per year. The 60-year-old took over as the basketball league's chief in 2014.

It's fair to say that Goodell clearly makes a lot more money from the NFL than Silver does in the NBA.

Moreover, Goodell is reported to have a net worth of $200 million which is significantly higher than Silver's net worth of $40 million.

Roger Goodell took over as NFL commissioner from Paul Tagliabue in 2006. He has signed three extensions to date, which were in 2009, 2012 and 2017.

His current deal runs out in 2024 but most NFL team owners are reportedly keen on Goodell continuing to remain in charge of running the league. It is believed that he will be offered a new three-year extension which will see him continue as the Football League's commissioner until 2027.

Under Goodell, the NFL finalized a few more TV deals in 2021 that kicked in last season. One of these was a blockbuster deal with Amazon worth a total of $1 billion over 11 years.

Goodell is also expected to pocket a higher salary if he signs his fourth extension.
