Dak Prescott has been having a relatively disappointing 2024 fantasy football season with the Dallas Cowboys. He has finished inside of the weekly top 10 quarterbacks just once this year and has failed to throw more than two touchdown passes in a single game so far.

Things got much worse for his fantasy outlook during his most recent game when he suffered a hamstring injury. He is now expected to miss at least the next four weeks, but some rumors have speculated that this could be a season-ending injury. This has made him an outright drop candidate from most fantasy rosters.

Dak Prescott has been a borderline QB1, at best, during the 2024 fantasy football season so far. Considering the significant hamstring injury that he suffered last week against the Atlanta Falcons, he makes sense as a drop candidate, especially in traditional leagues that only allow one quarterback in starting lineups.

Managers that have an available IR spot on their rosters may use it on Prescott with the hope that he is able to return before the end of the season. This may be the best option for 2QB and Superflex formats because if he can come back at some point, he could be a valuable addition for the fantasy playoffs later in the season.

In his absence, Cooper Rush is expected to serve as the Dallas Cowboys' starting quarterback. He did a decent job in this role two years ago when Prescott suffered an injury, throwing five touchdown passes in his five starts. He finished inside of the top 20 weekly quarterbacks just once, so Rush doesn't have much upside as a fantasy replacement for Prescott.

Dak Prescott's fantasy outlook for rest of 2024 season

If Dak Prescott is placed on the injured reserve list as he's reportedly expected to be, he will be required to miss at least the next four games for the Dallas Cowboys. This means that he would first be eligible to return in Week 14, so on the optimistic side, he could be ready for the fantasy playoffs at the end of the season.

If Prescott does make his return, he will play in some favorable late-season matchups that could help managers that are still alive in the playoffs. This potentially includes the Cincinnati Bengals, Carolina Panthers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who have all struggled to defend the pass.

Considering he reportedly tore his hamstring off of the bone, it will be interesting to see if he's able to recover before the 2024 season concludes.
