Waiver Wire pickups Week 9: Justin Fields, Kadarius Toney, and more

The Waiver Wire is one of the most important things to pay attention to during each week of the NFL Fantasy Football season. It provides fantasy managers with an opportunity to improve their rosters for the rest of the season. It also allows them to do so without losing valuable assets, such as in a trade.

Week 9 of the 2022 Fantasy Football season is here, and the fantasy playoffs are right around the corner. This makes it more important than ever for contending teams to solidify their rosters. It will also be one of the last chances for borderline playoff teams to make one last push. Finding valuable players on the Waiver Wire is one of the best ways to do that.

#1 - QB Justin Fields, Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears seem to have committed to using Justin Fields in the rushing game. This is great news in Fantasy Football as rushing statistics significantly help any quarterback's fantasy value. Fields has exceeded 45 rushing yards in each of his last six games, including 60 or more in each of his last three. He also has three rushing touchdowns this season, including one in each of his last two games.

If the Bears continue calling rushing plays for Fields, he could potentially be a top 10 Fantasy Football quarterback for the rest of the season. They acquired Chase Claypool this week, which should boost their passing game. Fields is worth a Waiver Wire addition for any fantasy team in need of quarterback help.

#2 - RB D'Onta Foreman, Carolina Panthers

In any fantasy league where D'Onta Foreman is still available, he should probably be the most targeted player on the Waiver Wire. He is officially the lead running back for the Carolina Panthers. In the two games since Christian McCaffrey was traded to the San Francisco 49ers, Foreman has been impressive.

Foreman has recorded 118 rushing yards in each of his two games as the starting running back this year. He also scored a massive three touchdowns in Week 8 against the Atlanta Falcons. If he is still on the Waiver Wire, he shouldn't be moving forward.

#3 - RB Isiah Pacheco, Kansas City Chiefs

Isiah Pacheco was a popular addition off the Waiver Wire in Week 7 when he was named the starting quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs. He was relatively unimpressive in his lone start, recording 43 yards on eight carries. He was likely dropped in many Fantasy Football leagues, especially with the Chiefs on a bye week.

Pacheco requalifies as a speculative Waiver Wire target with plenty of upside for the rest of the 2022 NFL season. If he holds his role as the starting running back for the rest of the year and continues to receive a bigger workload, he holds a ton of value in the high-powered Chiefs offense.

#4 - RB Kyren Williams, Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams are yet to officially figure out their running back situation for the rest of the 2022 NFL season. They are reportedly listening to offers on Cam Akers, while also shopping for a potential replacement.

The Rams seem to be dissatisfied with Akers and Darrell Henderson in the lead-back role. If they are unable to find an upgrade in the trade market, they may give Kyren Williams a shot at the starting job. He was recently activated off the injured list, so he should be ready to play soon.

#5 - WR Rondale Moore, Arizona Cardinals

Rondale Moore appeared to be establishing himself as a reliable weapon for Kyler Murray. He combined to record 13 receptions on 18 targets in Weeks 5 and 6. His value then took a massive hit in Week 7 when DeAndre Hopkins returned from his suspension.

Moore was targeted just twice in Hopkins' first game back. This caused many Fantasy Football managers to drop him. He bounced back strong in Week 8, setting a season-high with 92 receiving yards and scoring his first touchdown. He's now a solid Waiver Wire target in Week 9.

#6 - WR Kadarius Toney, Kansas City Chiefs

Kadarius Toney recently made headlines when he was acquired by the Kansas City Chiefs via trade with the New York Giants. His potential value received a major boost when he moved from one of the worst passing offenses in the NFL to one of the best.

While it's unclear what Toney's role will be within the Chiefs offense, he is definitely worth a specualtive addition off the Waiver Wire. Any player catching passes from Patrick Mahomes has significant upside, especially if he can carve out a large workload.

#7 - WR Josh Palmer, Los Angeles Chargers

Josh Palmer received additional playing time during the 2022 NFL season. While filling in for the injured Keenan Allen, Palmer has been targeted by Justin Herbert, at least, eight times in three of his last five games.

While Keenan Allen returned from the injured list, Mike Williams is now dealing with an injury of his own. Williams is projected to miss the next several weeks, so Palmer should continue to receive plenty of targets, making him a solid addition from the Waiver Wire.

#8 - TE Evan Engram, Jacksonville Jaguars

The tight end position is one of the most difficult to receive consistent production in Fantasy Football. This is what makes van Engram a particularly valuable Waiver Wire target this week. Following a relatively slow start to the 2022 season with his new team, he appears to have broken out.

Engram has recently been a consistent contributor within the Jacksonville Jaguars offense. He has recorded, at least, four receptions on six targets for 40 yards in each of his last four consecutive games. His stock is rising, making Week 9 a good time to grab him off the Waiver Wire.
