Lamar Jackson and his contract situation with the Baltimore Ravens has taken center stage this offseason. Many players have shared their thoughts on the ordeal, including Buffalo Bills star linebacker Von Miller. Miller appeared on the I Am Athlete podcast and was asked about the 2019 NFL MVP and what will happen to him this offseason.

Brandon Marshall, the co-host of the podcast, asked the two-time Super Bowl-winning linebacker what he saw in the proverbial NFL script regarding Jackson. Miller commented that the Ravens will pay the quarterback, explaining why the team will do so:

"He will get paid a crazy bit by the Ravens. He has to. I think for our game to keep making the jumps that it needs to be, he has to get paid and it's not about. Of course it's about his play on the field and the type of player he is but it's just timing."

Baltimore placed a non-exclusive tag on the All-Pro signal-caller, which would pay him $32.4 million in the upcoming season. Neither party has been able to reach a long-term deal as Jackson can now speak to other teams about a possible deal. The Ravens and the 26-year-old have until July 17 to reach a contract extension.

Should another team make an offer to Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens fail to match it, the new team will give Baltimore two first-round picks. Throughout the negotiation process, there have been assumptions surrounding the amount of money Jackson is seeking.

The talented quarterback recently had to address a report regarding an offer he supposedly rejected. Jackson responded to a report from ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter that he turned down a $200 million guaranteed deal last September.

Will the Ravens sign Lamar Jackson to a long-term deal?

As mentioned earlier, there is still time for both sides to reach an agreement on a new deal. However, there are multiple reports that some teams could make a move for Lamar Jackson. One such team is the Indianapolis Colts, who have cleared up a lot of cap space as of late.

The Colts currently hold the fourth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft that could be used in a possible trade with the Ravens. Another possible destination is the Washington Commaders, who cut Carson Wentz and let Taylor Heinicke walk this offseason.

We'll see if a new deal can be reached between the Ravens and Lamar Jackson or if he will play elsewhere in the 2023 season.
