Many believe Herschel Walker to be the best college footballer ever. Walker assisted the Georgia Bulldogs in capturing the 1980 national championship as a freshman.

Three years in a row, he received unanimous All-American accolades. Walker broke numerous NCAA and SEC records and, to top off an incredible college career, won the 1982 Heisman Trophy. He was chosen as the best college football player of the last fifty years and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1999.

Walker starred for the New Jersey Generals in the US Football League before playing in the NFL. He played for the Dallas Cowboys, Minnesota Vikings, Philadelphia Eagles, and New York Giants throughout the course of his NFL career.

In addition to leading the league in rushing, he accumulated more total yards than any other player in professional football history. He won multiple All-Pro and Pro-Bowl awards and established a single-season pro football rushing record of 2,411 yards (in the USFL).

In the Georgia United States Senate race of 2022, Walker was the Republican candidate. Raphael Warnock, the incumbent Democrat, defeated Walker in a runoff.

Herschel Walker's professional playing career

Walker had outstanding agility. Along with dominating the football field, he also succeeded in the bobsled and mixed martial arts. Herschel Walker was a pro football player who began his career with the New Jersey Generals of the USFL in 1983. He remained in the league for three years before switching to the NFL, where he first played for the Dallas Cowboys.

He was traded to the Minnesota Vikings in 1989, for whom they gave up five players and six draft picks. This is a now infamous trade, as from the resulting picks, the Cowboys built a dynasty. Walker later starred for the New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles. In total, Walker recorded more than 5,000 kickoff return yards, 4,500 receiving yards, and 8,000 rushing yards in the NFL.

Herschel Walker was renowned for his speed, strength and stamina. He also participated in track competitions in Georgia, where he ran 100 meters in 10.22 seconds. He won sprinting and discus throwing state championships in high school for Georgia.

Herschel Walker has periodically made appearances on a variety of reality TV shows in addition to athletics. He was a member of the cast of 'Rachael vs. Guy: Celebrity Cook-Off' during its third season.

Walker's reputation has suffered due to a string of controversies brought to light during his unsuccessful election campaign. However, he did have an incredible NFL career.
