Jordan Poyer is a strong safety for the Buffalo Bills in the NFL. He is one of the best players in the league, and he was honored with a 2021 Pro Bowl selection.

His biological father, Louis Dunbar, has never been a part of his life, with Dunbar having multiple stints in prison over the last twenty years. This has prevented him from making a connection with his Super Bowl-contending son, and it looks like that ship may have sailed.

Poyer's stepfather, Fa'alaeo Poyer, has been married to his mother Julie Poyer for almost as long as he's been alive. Jordan Poyer and his stepfather share a close-knit relationship, as they have been photographed together several times. Poyer frequently cites his stepfather as one of the reasons why he became a professional sportsman. He trained him while growing up and really helped him develop.

Jordan Poyer's mother is Julie Poyer. She also helped nurture and develop the NFL star. Jordan was born on 25th April 1991, and at that time, she had already split up with Jordan's biological father. This was not easy, and Julie had to toil long and hard to make ends meet.

She spent two years playing volleyball for Chemeketa Community College before leaving for Eastern New Mexico University. This change helped her meet her future husband, Fa’alaeo Poyer, and like they say, the rest is history. You will often see Julie Poyer in the crowd cheering for her son on gameday.

Jordan Poyer's NFL career

Poyer played college football for Oregon State University and was named an All-American in his final season there. Taken in the seventh round of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles, Poyer's first years in the league were a mixed bag. He struggled to carve out a role in the defensive schemes of first the Eagles and then the Cleveland Browns.

It wasn't until he signed for the Buffalo Bills in 2017 that he showcased what he could do when given the chance. He has since been an integral member of one of the most versatile defenses in the league, and this culminated in a Pro Bowl selection in the 2021 season.

Jordan Poyer is performing very well for the Buffalo Bills, as the team has been on a 6-1 tear to start off the 2022 season. However, the Bills will look to go two steps further than last campaign and attain Super Bowl glory.

Poyer is contributing to their incredible run. The safety has recorded 21 tackles (15 solo, six assisted) and a league-leading four interceptions in seven games.
