Jessica Pegula has grabbed headlines for her incredible rise on the tennis circuit. The 28-year-old is the No.1 ranked American women's singles player as of February 2023.

But did you know that Jessica is the daughter of one of the wealthiest couples in the country?

Jessica was born on February 24, 1994, to Terry and Kim Pegula. Her parents are owners of the NFL's Buffalo Bills and the NHL's Buffalo Sabres.

Terry Pegula graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in engineering. He worked with Getty Oil for a short period before founding his own company, East Resources.

At 71, Terry continues to have an interest in natural gas development, real estate, entertainment, and professional sports.

Kim Pegula was born in Seoul, South Korea. However, she has no recollection of her birth name, biological parents, or her life in the country. As per reports, Kim only briefly remembers being abandoned in the streets when she was five years old.

She was brought to America and was later adopted by Ralph and Marilyn Kerr on December 30, 1974. Kim grew up with her adoptive family in Fairport, New York.

In school, she took part in cheerleading and was also part of the school band, playing the bassoon. She met her future husband, Terry, in 1991 while interviewing for a waitressing gig.

Terry and Kim have their own company, Pegula Sports and Entertainment.

In an essay published in The Players' Tribune on Tuesday, Jessica Pegula detailed a harrowing experience her mother, Kim, suffered last year. The tennis star confirmed that the 53-year-old suffered a cardiac arrest in June 2022.

Jessica wrote that her sister Kelly performed CPR on her mother, who was unresponsive at the time, before the medics arrived and restored her heartbeat.

Nonetheless, the good news is that Kim is recovering slowly but steadily. It remains to be seen whether she will resume her duties as president of the Bills.
