Referees for the Lions vs. Bears Thanksgiving game revealed
The following officials will be in charge of the Thanksgiving Day game between the Lions and Bears in NFL Week 13:
Head Referee: Alan Eck
Umpire: Tab Slaughter
Down Judge: Derick Bowers
Line Judge: Derek Anderson
Field Judge: John Jenkins
Side Judge: Dale Shaw
Back Judge: Greg Meyer
Replay Official: Joe Wollan
Replay Assistant: Larry Hanson
After joining the NFL in 2016 as a side judge, Alan Eck was promoted to umpire in 2017 and remained there until the 2023 campaign. Eck replaced the retired Jerome Boger as an NFL referee in the 2023 season.
Since joining the league as a referee, Eck has only officiated one Detroit Lions game, which was the team's 34-20 Week 4 victory over the Green Bay Packers last season.
This season, Eck's referee crew has thrown 13.55 flags per week, which puts them outside the top half of the league.
In Week 12, Eck and his crew officiated the Miami Dolphins vs. New England Patriots game at Hard Rock Stadium. Miami won that game 34-15, while New England was flagged 10 times for 75 yards.
How to watch Detroit Lions vs. Chicago Bears on Thursday?
The Detroit Lions will try to snap their Thanksgiving Day losing skid against the Chicago Bears today. They have lost each of their last seven Turkey Day games, most recently against the Green Bay Packers 29–22 last year.
Now would be an excellent time to end their poor performance on Thanksgiving Day. The Lions are off to their best start to a season since 1934. While this year's Thanksgiving Day opponent, Chicago, hasn't tasted victory in an NFL game in over a month.
Kickoff at Ford Field is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. ET, and the game will be broadcast on CBS, where play-by-play commentator Jim Nantz and analyst Tony Romo will call the game from the booth. The game's sideline reporter will be Tracy Wolfson.
