The San Francisco 49ers will travel to face the Seattle Seahawks in Week 15 of the 2022-23 NFL season. However, the visitors were dealt a blow on the eve of the game as quarterback Brock Purdy was listed as 'questionable' for the Thursday night clash.

Niners head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed that Purdy was a limited participant in practice all week due to a rib injury. He also revealed that the team will evaluate their 22-year-old's status on gameday before deciding whether or not to start him against Seattle.

If Purdy is unable to take the field on Thursday, veteran Josh Johnson will be tipped to start at quarterback in Week 15. However, the San Francisco 49ers will be hoping that Purdy's injury isn't too serious as they look to push for a playoff berth.

San Francisco has already lost quarterbacks Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo due to season-long injuries. Although Purdy is the team's third-choice quarterback, he led the team to a stunning 35-7 win over Tom Brady's Tampa Bay Buccaneers in his first NFL start last weekend.

Purdy threw for 185 yards and two touchdowns in the win over Tampa Bay. The rookie quarterback also had one rushing touchdown and produced a memorable display in front of his family. He also played his way into an elite club of quarterbacks to ever beat Tom Brady in their NFL debut.

Beating Brady certainly helps him make a case for being a trustworthy backup signal-caller at the very least.

The Niners are currently in pole position in the NFC West with a 9-4 record. Following their game against the Seahawks in Week 15, San Francisco will host the Washington Commanders in Week 16.

Kyle Shanahan's side then travels to face the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 17 before finishing their regular season campaign against the Arizona Cardinals. Along with trying to win the division, San Francisco will be hoping to book their playoff berth as soon as possible. Nonetheless, being the top seed in the division is bound to make life a little easier for the Red and Gold.
