Janet Papale and Vince Papale have been wed for almost 25 years. The wedding took place on August 14, 1993. Vincent and Gabriella are their son and daughter, respectively. Of the nine children her parents had, Janet is the oldest. Her siblings were all athletes, as she was brought up in a sporting home.

She secured a position on the USA World Gymnastics Team at 16. She participated in the Hapoel Games and the World Games in Yugoslavia. She sustained a terrible injury, sadly ending a promising future in gymnastics. However, this didn't stop her one bit.

Papale enrolled at Penn State and took up diving. She earned a bachelor's degree in physical education while shattering every Penn State Women's diving milestone. She started teaching gymnastics at State College High School and then traveled the world.

Janet Papale has traveled extensively, teaching and training. She has also created amateur gymnastics curricula in South Africa, Malaysia, Bermuda, and the United States. She returned to the US and started working as the first gymnastics coach at the University of Pennsylvania. A position she held from 1976 through to 1988.

Papale worked as a coach there while also pursuing post-graduate studies at the Wharton School of Business. After retiring from coaching, she started a career in real estate. Janet Papale has held her license for 40 years and is a thriving businesswoman, investor, writer, and educator. Her coaching abilities and leadership style are beyond impressive and beyond that.

Is Janet Papale portrayed accurately in the movie Invincible?

Sometimes Hollywood seems to sacrifice accuracy in lieu of a good story. The portrayal of Janet Papale in the film Invincible is such an example. As per Papale's official website, she has never been and never will be a New York Giants supporter and has also never worked as a bartender.

As mentioned above, Papale was first a gymnast, a diver, and then an entreprenuer. Her story is brimming with determination and spirit in the face of adversity. So it seems odd that the film would deem it necessary to change her history.

In another contrast to the film, the pair didn't meet while he was trying out for the Philadelphia Eagles. Although Invincible focuses on the career of Vince Papale at the Philadelphia Eagles, it does seem they have been dismissive of Janet Papale's achievements. Invincible may be a great film, but the truth would have made it even better.
