The latest update on Keenan Allen's injury doesn't make for pleasant reading. On Friday, September 19, the Chicago Bears officially ruled Allen out of their Week 3 matchup with the Indianapolis Colts.
Owing to a heel injury, Allen was listed as DNP on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday was meant to serve as an indicator of whether he would be fit in time to suit up on Sunday.
However, Allen was listed as DNP for Friday's practice session too, which means he will have to watch on from the sidelines when the Bears take the field at the Lucas Oil Stadium this Sunday.

Allen was also held out of Week 2. Head coach Matt Eberflus indicated to reporters that it was a matter of pain tolerance for their big free agency addition.
Chicago Bears injury report: Keenan Allen ruled out but good news on Rome Odunze
Alongside Allen, rookie wide receiver Rome Odunze was also listed on the injury report with a knee injury.
Odunze was limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday but he was a full participant on Friday, just in time to be cleared for Week 3 fantasy football.
The Bears' injury report is a long read but most names including Marcedes Lewis are expected to be fit in time to face the Colts. Only DL Zacch Pickens and FB Khari Blasingame have officially been ruled out alongside Keenan Allen.
When could Keenan Allen return from injury?
Considering Eberflus told reporters it was a matter of pain tolerance for the veteran wide receiver, we could very well see Allen back for next Sunday's showdown against the Los Angeles Rams.
The Bears do have options with Allen out injured, especially considering Rome Odunze will suit up against Indy this weekend. DJ Moore and Odunze are expected to share the workload whereas the Bears could also turn to D'Andre Swift and Cole Kmet to get things going on offense.
