Khalil Shakir has been in the spotlight for the Buffalo Bills ahead of their Week 5 clash against the Houston Texans. The wideout has been nursing an ankle injury, and fans want to know Shakir's status for the game on Sunday.
Will Khalil Shakir play vs. Texans in Week 5?

Khalil Shakir won't play in Week 5 against the Texans, Bills coach Sean McDermott confirmed on Friday. The Bills wideout doesn't seem to have recovered completely from his ankle injury.

Shakir didn't practice with his Bills teammates on Wednesday or Thursday. The Bills had one more practice on Friday before making the trip to Houston, but the receiver is expected to be held out of practice once again as he continues his rehab.
Per reports, Shakir suffered his ankle injury in the first quarter of Buffalo's Week 4 defeat against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. He made an 8-yard catch before being brought down by Roquan Smith and David Ojabo.
Shakir was able to get up after the hit, but he sat back down on the turf before being tended to by trainers. The Bills receiver walked off the field slowly and had his right ankle taped on the sidelines. Shakir was able to return and finished the game with 62 yards on four receptions. Bills coach McDermott also praised the player's desire to remain on the field.
"To push through the way that he did, he (Shakir) tweaked it fairly early in the game, and I thought (it) was a credit to him and the way he pushed through it right there," McDermott said.
In four games this season, Shakir has posted 230 yards on 18 receptions and caught two touchdowns. He has formed a solid partnership with Bills quarterback Josh Allen, but the duo won't link up in Week 5 against the Texans.
While there is no timeline on Shakir's return, the wideout will be targeting a return to get fit for the Bills' Week 6 matchup against the New York Jets on Oct. 14.
