Willie McGinest is in the headlines once again as the victim of an alleged assault is pursing legal action against the three-time Super Bowl champion.

Last December, the former USC Trojans star allegedly assaulted Blake Adams at a restaurant in L.A. over a supposed comment made over McGinest's alma mater. Adams filed his lawsuit earlier this month in L.A. for unspecified damages.

Per the documents obtained by TMZ, Adams claims he was eating at Delilah in West Hollywood on Dec. 9, 2022, when he observed the former NFL star walking past his table. Adams said in the lawsuit that he asked the Trojans alum about USC's most recent game — a loss to the University of Utah in the Pac-12 championship game.

That was when McGinest became angry, per Adams. Part of the lawsuit explains what happened following a conversation between the two men.

The lawsuit said:

"Why the f*** are you talking to me?!" "McGinest leaned down and stated in [Adams'] ear, 'Now what did you say bitch ass n****." "McGinest suddenly, unprovoked and without reason punched [Adams] in the face."

As stated in the court documents, Willie McGinest walked away, but showed up moments later and approached Adams. Adams asserted that he was frightened and scared, telling the former New England Patriots linebacker that "he was just a fan trying to say hello."

Adams stated that a couple of others helped in the assault, hitting him again and again. The victim added that at one point, McGinest grabbed a glass bottle, striking him several times. He said he suffered severe and permanent injuries in the fight.

Along with McGinest, Adams is also suing the restaurant where the incident took place. He claims the lounge is infamous for being a "playground for celebrities and professional athletes to do whatever they want with no consequence or repercussion."

Willie McGinest and the aftermath of the assault

The 15-year NFL veteran released a statement following his arrest and being charged with two felonies.

The statement said:

"To my family, community, friends, and youth I mentor. Please know I feel horrible for my actions and take full responsibility."

Following his arrest, Willie McGinest was taken off the NFL Network as an analyst. He's slated for arraignment in the assault case next month, facing four years in prison.
