With Derek Carr potentially out of the picture, Sin City looks cold and empty for Davante Adams

Derek Carr and Davante Adams have a natural chemistry that shows on the field. And why not? Their friendship dates back to 2012 when they played together at Fresno State in college. Both were selected in the 2014 NFL Draft, and even though the wide receiver played for the Green Bay Packers, he always kept an eye out for his old buddy playing quarterback with the Las Vegas Raiders.

That is why when the opportunity came this offseason, Davante Adams chose to join the Raiders to reunite with Derek Carr. He gave up a chance to play with Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay to get a shot at this, so it clearly shows how much he trusts and believes in his quarterback friend.

Now that Derek Carr has been benched, it automatically opens up the possibility of the quarterback being traded to another team. In such circumstances, would Davante Adams then stick around? He did not choose to come here to be part of a team that does not have Carr as the starting quarterback. He wanted to rekindle their connection at Fresno State, both on and off the field.

Davante Adams has not been shy about highlighting that and did not mince words earlier today when asked why he is here. Adams confirmed that Derek Carr is indeed his good friend and supports him all the way. If that wasn't clear enough, he also clarified that he is a Raider today because of Carr. He reiterated that nobody was excited about seeing their starting quarterback benched but confirmed that he would remain professional about it.

Pointedly, he only discussed finishing the current season on a high and did not mention anything about the upcoming seasons. That could have a lot of connotations about Adams' future in Sin City.

What does the future hold for Davante Adams if Derek Carr is traded?

So, what does the possibility hold for Davante Adams if Derek Carr moves away from the Las Vegas Raiders? There is every chance that Carr himself would like to recruit Adams to whichever team he goes to. As one of the best wide receivers in the league, there will not be a shortage of suitors for him.

Additionally, there is a prospect that he might even return to Green Bay. That may involve swallowing some of his pride, but Aaron Rodgers has been known to get people he likes back in before. Randall Cobb is one of the best examples in the wide receiver position.

Davante Adams probably left the Packers because there was speculation at the start of the season regarding Rodgers' status with Green Bay. There were rumors that he may follow Nathaniel Hackett to the Denver Broncos or turn up elsewhere. Hence, Adams chose to jump ship at that point.

Before the Raiders decide to trade Derek Carr away, they might have to look intently at the possibility of losing Davante Adams. The wide receiver might not decide to stay if his friend is no longer in Las Vegas.

Not only does it diminish the offense, but it also makes it more challenging to recruit another quarterback to play for them if they are set to lose their premier wide receiver. There are a lot of minefields for the Raiders to navigate here as well.

At the moment, the future for Carr, Adams and the Raiders is in flux. There will be a lot to come of these discussions in the upcoming off-season. However, for the wide receiver, this is scarcely the outcome he would have envisaged one year into his Las Vegas career.
