Early Life and Career
Augusto dos Santos Sakai discovered Muay Thai in school when he was 14. He saw a presentation that he enjoyed and decided to practice.
He had his first amateur fight in Muay Thai against a professional athlete when he was 18. Sakai won the fight via decision.
Augusto Sakai started training in Jiu-Jitsu when he was 21 and slowly transitioned into mixed martial arts.
Sakai made his professional debut on October 15, 2011, against Cesar Alberto and won the fight via knockout.
He made his first promotional debut in Bellator MMA on March 28, 2013, and defeated Rob Horton via knockout.
