Masood Shahrukh Khan, popularly known as Shahrukh Khan is an Indian Cricketer born on 27th May 1995 in the city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He is a right-handed batsman known for his abilities to hit the ball hard and finish the innings in style with his big shots.
Shahrukh Khan played domestic cricket for Tamil Nadu at U-16, U-19 and U-22 levels. Soon, he made his List-A debut for the senior Tamil Nadu team in a game against Goa at Alur on February 27, 2014. Thanks to a fantastic performance by the bowlers, Tamil Nadu received a 123-run target to win the match. Shahrukh did not get an opportunity to bat as the top-order batsmen chased the target easily.
So far, Khan has played 25 List-A matches in his career, scoring 484 runs at an average of 44. It is pertinent to note that the rising star from Tamil Nadu has batted in List-A cricket at an excellent strike rate of 110.75.
Talking about his T20 career, Shahrukh played his first domestic T20 game for Tamil Nadu against Goa at Visakhapatnam on April 1, 2014. He played a fantastic cameo of 21 runs from just eight balls on his T20 debut.
Shahrukh Khan has featured in 31 T20 matches so far, amassing 293 runs in 23 innings. His batting strike rate has been 131.39.
While Shahrukh played List-A and T20 cricket for Tamil Nadu in 2014, he had to wait for his maiden first-class cap until 2018. Tamil Nadu included him in their first-class team for the game against Kerala at Chennai on December 6, 2018.
He impressed everyone by scoring 92 runs off 155 balls at number seven. In the second innings, he aggregated 34 runs off 39 deliveries. His performances helped Tamil Nadu win by 151 runs. As of April 2021, Shahrukh has 231 runs to his name in first-class cricket. He has hit 21 fours and three sixes.
Shahrukh Khan has not played his first IPL match yet. After going unsold in multiple auctions, Khan secured a contract worth INR 5.25 crore from the Punjab Kings Team at IPL Auction 2021. He will likely play the finisher’s role for the Mohali-based franchise in IPL 2021.
Hailing from Chennai, Shahrukh Khan followed the footsteps of his father Masood Khan and tried to make a name for himself in cricket. Shahrukh’s brother Akram Khan is also a cricketer. He played for the Lyca Kovai Kings, Ruby Kanchi Warriors and Madurai Super Giant in Tamil Nadu Premier League.
